Once again Kosmic Sound have provided the High School market of W.A. with a great format to promote the industry.  It has left all participants in the festival  inspired and satisfied.  Proudly, this event has become a recognised calendar event in the private & public WA secondary music education system.

This event promotes the music industry in the following ways:
·         Professional performance and production standards through sound, staging & lighting
·         professional backline products provided to contestants to play through
·         road crew to provide guidance and  knowledge
·         showcasing the industry partnering process i.e. collaboration by the retailer, wholesalers and partners such as the TAFE Music & Industry Skills Package

This years event attracted the application of 55 schools of which 45 competed over 4 days. Approximately 270 music students participated in the heats and when adding band support crew, student supporters and approximately 80 teachers the event attracted over 600 participants over the 4 days duration.

The heats provided 10 finalists that competed for the prize pools provided by Roland, Fender and Pro-Copy.
The final was attended by approximately 500 music students, parents and friends, which again was a great expose for the sponsors at the event.
This year also saw My Big Gig featured in the Perth West Australian news paper in addition to the regional papers. This resulted from the usual aspect of the contestant’s marketing component that contributes 10% to the marking criteria.

This year as mentioned in the last email, we have been sponsored by the Local Action Drug Groups which provided for the filming of the final by Pro-Copy and will provide a lasting time capsule and future promotional platform for major sponsors of the event.

The Musicians from all bands were inspirational on the night, for more details about My Big Gig visit the website
