Chris Murphy's Lore

Becoming an Australian Idol is no mean feat and certainly shows persistence. We still have original Murphy's Lore masters in our library from '92 so it was great to recently complete discs in record time for Chris Murphy so that he could meet his launch deadline. - Along with Chris we reckon that the next Perth band to watch are the Woodenelves - great CD launch Travis!

Procopy gets Gracenote accreditation

Surprising though it may sound, the information in the CDDB and similar databases can come from anyone: a record label may be the first to enter and upload information to the online database, an artist may mail a CD to Gracenote for information upload, or any fan, using iTunes or other media player, can enter information on their own screen and send it to the online database.

To maintain the integrity of the information in its database, Gracenote enforces certain naming conventions and also gives priority to information submitted by its “content partners,” typically record labels.

Procopy has been accredited as a Content Partner and we have special software that can access the Gracenote database. For more information, click the contact us link in the sidebar.

Pro-Copy Update

There's massive news down our way! As we enter our 19th year we have recently relocated to new premises, plenty of parking for a start! We now have comprehensive video and audio editing facilities as well as a new studio area. DVD authoring facililties continue to grow as more people take up the medium. In the production area we've increased our capacity for inhouse CD and DVD work with more equipment. We have seen our new on disc printing accepted massively - this newer technology is more vibrant than inkjet or label printing, water proof and scratch resistant - so you can get offset print quality on short runs of discs - a vast improvement in presentation of product for the demo market. We have also negotiated better turnaround times on our bulk runs - so as time frames for completing projects get tighter and tighter we are able to deliver bulk runs of discs in around working 7 days, EVEN faster in extreme cases! - FAR better than the 10-14 days normally offered. - Suprisingly DVD bulk pricing is now on a par with CD so it makes sense to look at producing dvds as the returns for the artist can be much better than CD. We continue to add to our website with heaps of techy info including info on region coding for DVDs (an area of great confusion for many people), artwork guidelines, and product information - and local and international calendars for events, shows and trade shows. And notes on innovations such as our audio and video media players. You can contact our helpful staff on 08 9375 3902 or via email. For quotes or further information fill out our form here - Request Quote Form. Or visit our new premises Unit 1 12 Boag Rd, Morley.

Time to throw away your cds?

"It was 20 years ago today" ... well actually it was 25 years ago that CDs were launched as an alternative to LPs and cassettes. 70-odd minutes of crisp (if not perfect) digital sound on one CD of 700MB. Now we can get ten times the content on that same CD, at 'near CD' quality. As CDs are migrating to iPods and MP3 players, dedicated 'music centres' are giving way to media centres that store and play audio and video libraries of unimaginable size. Forget a jukebox of 100 singles, we can now store and easily retrieve tens of thousands of songs. But what of the CD collection? Is that destined to go the same way as that stack of LPs? For a guide to cd-to-mp3 options, please click the link.
